Isabel is a marine biologist with a PhD in fisheries and is currently undertaking a Master of Economics to bring an environmental economics focus to her work. This will incorporate choice modelling and non-market valuation techniques into solving marine environmental problems. As a Galapagos Islands fisheries researcher for ten years, Isabel addressed ecological issues using a multidisciplinary approach, collaborating with stakeholders, including fisheries organisations, academia, industry, and government. Isabel has extensive experience in primary data collection and analysis using limited or poor data.
During her PhD, Isabel identified and developed global policy recommendations for species management utilising innovative and cost-efficient alternatives to analyse fish stocks. Isabel joined NCE in 2022, enhancing our capabilities in marine systems research and management. Isabel is passionate about conducting interdisciplinary research to improve natural resource management.
