Intensive horticulture is emerging as a key industry in the provision of high-quality, continuous supply, food that is increasingly demanded by consumers. The Sunshine Coast has an abundance of many of the inputs (natural, infrastructure and governance) required for efficient production of intensive horticulture.
NCEconomics, with the support of Rough Plan, were engaged to investigate the prospects for further development of the intensive horticulture industry in the Sunshine Coast local government area. These issues were examined through three potential commodities – medicinal cannabis, tomatoes, and cucumbers.
